Moseley and Kings Heath Labour: active on the issues that matter

Moseley and Kings Heath Labour Party is a campaigning branch that meets regularly and works hard for the local community.

As community activists with shared values, we are proud to be part of Moseley and Kings Heath. We work with interest groups and through local forums, supporting all that's great about our community and our City- and trying to sort things out that don't work so well.

Our new website provides details of our campaigns and lots of local information: it's available here: www.moseleyandkingsheathlabour.co.uk

A message from Martin Straker-Welds: working hard for Moseley and Kings Heath

MSW

Dear friend,

I was delighted to be elected to represent Moseley and Kings Heath.

I made three pledges during my campaign, which I am working hard to implement.

First, I will fight to protect Moseley and Kings Heath from current savage cuts to our public services and voluntary groups. I have been disappointed to see that many cuts have been targeted at vulnerable people who really need our support- like those older and disabled people who rely on social care. I will do my best to lobby Birmingham City Council to reduce the impact of cuts on those who can least afford them.

Second, I want to build a caring community in which those who need support can find it. Moseley and Kings Heath is a strong, creative, diverse and friendly community- that is why so many of us have been proud to make our homes here. Financial pressures must not be allowed to undermine this.

Finally, I want to get Birmingham City Council to involve the people of Moseley and Kings Heath in decision-making on things which affect us. We need more decision-making to occur closer to local people- so that they can play a real part in making choices about their area and their services. That is why I am embarking on a rolling, year-round programme of street surgeries- so I can try and meet with as many people as possible to ensure their concerns are listened to.

That's enough about what I think- what do you think? Are there any other issues you want me to take up?

If so please let me know. You can email me at martinstraker_welds@live.com or write to me (no need for a stamp) at:
